This is a unique place in Russia, located in a remote area of the Northern Urals. On a mountain plateau at an altitude of 760m nature has created seven stone pillars of weathering height from 30 to 43 meters.
Manpupuner is translated from the indigenous Mansi language as "Small mountain of idols".
In 2008, the weathering pillars were officially recognized as one of the seven wonders of Russia! Now the Manpupuner plateau is under protection of the Pechora-Ilych reserve and access to it is limited.
